Diocesan Shield Builders for Christ
in the
Diocese of South Carolina
The Diocese of South Carolina has entered a new era of ministry and mission in which every member of our Diocesan family - each man, woman, and child - can play a significant role. We can do this by becoming Builders for Christ.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break trhough and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:19-21
What does the Builders for Christ program do? Provide funding to enable all the congregations in our Diocese to become more powerful instruments of God's Kingdom.
What has the level of participation been in the Diocese? Unfortunately, only ten percent of all confirmed members in the Diocese participate in Builders for Christ.
How is the Builders for Christ funding used? Funding has been given for projects such as enlarging or renovating parish halls, full and part-time youth workers, Christian education workers, rectories, and purchase of property to expand.
How are Builders for Christ projects selected? Every year a committee meets to review applications for funding. A priorty list is developed and grants are given as funding is received.
St. Paul wrote to the Ephesians, "We are members one of another." he invited the first century Christians to acknowledge their oneness in Christ by giving generously to support chruches in need. In the same spirit, we are asking you and everyone in the diocese to make a gift to help chruches in this diocese who want to meet challenging opportunities for development.
